HOW TO: Make Your Own!

If you want to get really crazy, you can even make your own stuff.

By stuff I mean deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, cat food and the like. It seems preposterous and loony, but you can viably make your own care products and pet food, because when I think of care products I think of pet food. Do your research, and don’t dismiss anything as irrational, because chances are someone has made their own. A lot of prepackaged things like toothpaste and deodorant have ingredients that aren’t necessary, and some that are even detrimental to your health. You really want to brush your teeth with something that gives you a stern warning about not to swallow it?

Making your own stuff feels really overwhelming at first because you need so many ingredients that you may or may not own, but don’t get flustered; take it a step at a time, and know that it’ll be easier in the long run. In the meantime, buy yourself some coconut oil. It’s used for a lot of personal care products. Also, make sure you read through more than one recipe. Some DIY toothpastes may require ingredients that are bad for your teeth. I’ll have some individual posts about how to make some personal care products, but for now here are some links:

You can even buy kits to make it even easier:

If books were food, I'd eat them. Obviously. I need to live. I'm just a comic-loving, plant eating weirdo who talks to herself on the internet. Let's hang out and talk to ourselves on the internet!
